DESCRIPTION
Rifaximin Uterine Infusion 0.2% is an orange-red suspension that separates upon standing but redisperses uniformly upon shaking.
Chemical Class: Rifamycin derivative (semi-synthetic derivative of Rifamycin SV).
Chemical Formula: C₄₃H₅₁N₃O₁₁.

INDICATIONS
This product is indicated for the treatment of Bovine Endometritis caused by Rifaximin-sensitive bacteria, including:
Gram-Positive Bacteria: Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Corynebacterium (Hidden rod bacteria).
Gram-Negative Bacteria: Escherichia coli.
Anaerobes: Various anaerobic bacteria.
PHARMACOLOGY
Mechanism of Action: Rifaximin binds irreversibly to the β-subunit of bacterial DNA-dependent RNA polymerase. This inhibits bacterial RNA synthesis and subsequently protein synthesis, leading to bacterial death (bactericidal activity).
Safety Profile: The drug acts locally with minimal systemic absorption, contributing to its safety and lack of milk residues.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Route of Administration: Intrauterine Infusion only.
Target Animals: Cattle (Cows).
Recommended Dose:
Volume: 100 mL per cow (1 bottle).
Frequency: Administer once every 3 days.
Course of Treatment:
Standard: 2 administrations (Day 0 and Day 3).
Severe Cases: Up to 3 administrations.
Procedure:
Preparation: Shake the bottle well to ensure uniform dispersion.
Hygiene: Perform rectal massage to clear lochia (post-partum discharge). Clean and disinfect the vulva and perineal area.
Infusion: Use a sterile insemination catheter or uterine infusion pipette to introduce the drug into the uterus.
WITHDRAWAL PERIODS
Milk: Zero (0) days. (Milk can be used for human consumption immediately).
Meat: Consult specific local regulations, though typically negligible due to low systemic absorption.
CONTRAINDICATIONS AND WARNINGS
Preparation: Must be shaken thoroughly before use.
Hygiene: Strict aseptic technique is required during uterine infusion to prevent secondary infections.
Safety: Keep out of reach of children.
Adverse Reactions: No adverse reactions have been observed when used at the recommended dosage.
