Pharmacological effects: Pharmacodynamic iron is the main component of hemoglobin and myoglobin. Hemoglobin is the main carrier of oxygen in red blood cells. Myoglobin is the site where muscle cells store oxygen to assist in providing oxygen during muscle movement. Most enzymes and factors related to the tricarboxylic acid cycle contain iron or can only function in the presence of iron. Therefore, after actively supplementing iron supplements to iron deficient animals, in addition to accelerating hemoglobin synthesis, symptoms related to tissue iron deficiency and decreased iron enzyme activity, such as growth retardation, behavioral abnormalities, and physical exhaustion, can gradually be corrected.

Pharmacokinetic injection of iron is more rapidly absorbed than oral administration; After intramuscular injection of iron dextran, the blood drug concentration reaches its peak 24-48 hours later, and its molecules are relatively large. They are absorbed by lymphatic vessels and then transferred into the bloodstream, resulting in a slower increase in blood drug concentration; After intravenous or intramuscular injection and absorption into the bloodstream, the mononuclear phagocytic system engulfs and decomposes into iron and dextran. After absorption, iron ions are oxidized by ceruloplasmin in the blood to trivalent iron ions, which then bind to transferrin receptors and enter the cell through endocytosis for use by hematopoietic cells. They can also accumulate in the liver, spleen, bone marrow, and other mononuclear phagocytic cell systems in the form of ferritin or hemosiderin. The protein binding rate is high in hemoglobin, low in myoglobin, enzymes, and iron transport proteins, and low in ferritin or iron containing hemoglobin.
