【 Appearance 】 This product is a white to light yellow powder.

Pharmacological effects: Neomycin belongs to the aminoglycoside antibacterial class, and its antibacterial spectrum is similar to that of kanamycin. It has a strong antibacterial effect on most Gram negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Proteus, Salmonella, and Pasteurella multocida, and is also sensitive to Staphylococcus aureus. Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Gram positive bacteria (excluding Staphylococcus aureus), rickettsia, anaerobic bacteria, and fungi are resistant to this product.

Pharmacokinetic neomycin is rarely absorbed for oral and local use, with only 3% of the total amount excreted in urine after oral administration, and most excreted unchanged in feces. Inflammation or ulceration of the intestinal mucosa can increase absorption. Injected medication is quickly absorbed, and its internal process is similar to that of kanamycin.

[Drug Interactions] (1) Combined with macrolide antibiotics, it can treat mastitis caused by Gram positive bacteria. (2) Oral administration can affect the absorption of digitalis drugs, vitamin A, or vitamin B12. (3) It has a synergistic effect when used in combination with penicillins or cephalosporins. (4) This product enhances its antibacterial effect in alkaline environments, and when used in combination with alkaline drugs such as sodium bicarbonate and aminophylline, it can increase its antibacterial efficacy, but its toxicity is also correspondingly enhanced. When the pH exceeds 8.4, the antibacterial effect actually weakens. (5) Cations such as Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, NH4+, and K+can inhibit the antibacterial activity of this product. (6) When used in combination with cephalosporins, dextran, potent diuretics (such as furosemide), erythromycin, etc., it can enhance the ototoxicity of this product. (7) Skeletal muscle relaxants (such as succinylcholine chloride) or drugs with this effect can enhance the neuromuscular blocking effect of this product.
